No Doubt about Mamma in Myer Classic 2016

Don’t Doubt Mamma has won two of the lead-up races to the Myer Classic and is poised to chase her first Group One win in the fillies and mare’s feature.

Trainer Tony McEvoy resisted temptations of other Group One races during the spring such as the Toorak Handicap, insisting the 2016 Myer Classic was the right race for the in-form four-year-old.

Don’t Doubt Mamma has won the Group Two Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) at Flemington and Group Two Stocks Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley leading into Saturday’s race and looms as one of the main Myer contenders.

“She’s been wonderful this preparation and she’s right on song,” McEvoy said.

“She galloped beautifully at Moonee Valley on Tuesday and I’m looking forward to getting her back to the races.”

Dwayne Dunn has been aboard Don’t Doubt Mamma in her two recent wins and again has the ride on Saturday.

Dunn has ridden the mare in seven races for four stakes wins and another two placings, with the only miss her unplaced effort in the Group One Robert Sangster Stakes in Adelaide in May.

The jockey will be chasing back-to-back Myer Classic wins after steering Politeness to victory a year ago.
