Other News:

Perth trainer Simon Miller says Whispering Brook is back on track in her mission to become the first filly to win the Group One Myer Classic.

The filly was scratched at the gates for the Group Two LUCRF Super Vase at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Miller said her behaviour was unusual, guessing she may have been spooked by the crowd.

Whispering Brook passed a jump-out test at Caulfield on Tuesday morning and has 49kg in Saturday’s Myer Classic for fillies and mares.

“We’re back on track. It would be nice to have another crack at a Group One,” Miler told RSN927.

Miller said the 2016 Myer Classic was always on the radar.

“We wanted to have another crack at a Group one whether it be the Myer or the Oaks.

“I thought the Oaks would be at the time a softer option but now (Cox Plate placegetter) Yankee Rose is going there maybe things happen for a reason.

“It’s a blessing in disguise that we came out Saturday.”

The best Myer performance by a three-year-old since the Myer begn in 988 was Alinghi’s second in 2004 but Miller has confidence in Whispering Brook.

“I know a filly hasn’t won it but she’s only three runs in, it’s not as if she’s at the end of her prep.”

Former Perth jockey Chris Parnham, who is now based in Victoria, takes the ride on Whispering Brook.
