Michelle Payne apologises for twitter outburst

Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michelle Payne has apologised to owners of Prince Of Penzance following an outburst tweet she made on twitter after learning she had lost the ride on the horse.

Prince Of Penzance will make is race return following his Melbourne Cup triumph without Michelle onboard with Harry Coffey the new jockey to ride the Weir trained galloper in Saturday’s G1 Memsie Stakes at Caulfield.

“I apologised to John Richards straight away, and he was really good about it,” Payne told Racing.com’s Racing Ahead on RSN 927.

“I’ve spoken to Sandy McGregor, and he’s been fantastic.

“I can totally understand where they’re coming from, and I’m just rapt to see Harry on him on Saturday.

“Harry’s always here doing trials and working hard behind the scenes, I’d be absolutely rapt if he ran well for Harry.”

Payne who has been back riding track work for the past eight weeks is still unsure when she will make her race return with her focus also split with her potential training career.
