Memsie Stakes 2014: Moment Of Change eases into spring action

Triple Group One winner Moment Of Change made a comfortable start to his spring campaign at Tuesday’s Caulfield jump-outs.

Moment Of Change won the CF Orr and Futurity Stakes in the autumn over his favourite Caulfield 1400-metre course but trialled over 750m on his home track.

Race rider Luke Nolen kept Moment Of Change well off the fence during the heat before the rising six-year-old coasted home to beat the Mick Price-trained Stratigraphy.

Moment Of Change pleased trainer Peter Moody with his effort but he has not decided on a first-up assignment for the gelding.

“That was good, he just had a bowl around,” Moody told Racing Victoria.

“He’ll have another trial next week, just to blow the cobwebs off.”

Moment Of Change is likely to appear second-up in the Memsie Stakes, Victoria’s first Group One race of the 2014/15 season, on August 30.

The Moody-trained Golden Slipper placegetter Bring Me The Maid also trialled at Doomben on Tuesday morning.

Bring Me The Maid spent the winter in Brisbane after her successful debut campaign and the rising three-year-old finished second to the Liam Birchley-trained Headwater Country in an 850-metre trial.
