Exciting two-year-old Jimando will reunite with his debut-winning jockey Nash Rawiller, raising Tony McEvoy’s hopes he can land his second win in the Group Two Sires’ Produce Stakes at Flemington.

McEvoy, who trained 2004 winner Barely A Moment when the head trainer for Lindsay Park, said he was encouraged that Rawiller chased the ride on Jimando for Saturday’s time-honoured 1400-metre feature.

“Nash won the Debutants Stakes on him at his first start at Caulfield and was keen to get back on the horse which was very pleasing for us,” McEvoy said.

Blake Shinn, who rides in Sydney this weekend, has partnered Jimando at his last two starts at Caulfield.

He finished third on him to Mama’s Choice in the Listed Emirates Airline Stakes (1100m) and last start from the outside barrier in the 16-horse Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) shot forward and ran a hard-fought fourth.

“It was a very good run in the Blue Diamond as he didn’t get much of a rest from that gate,” McEvoy said.

“He had to do all the work and I thought he toughed it out very well.”

Jimando has drawn barrier 11 in the Sires’ Produce but McEvoy is supremely confident he will run a strong 1400 metres.

“He will love the trip,” McEvoy said.

“It is a very even, hard race again and a big field but we’re hoping he can run another good race for us.

“He is very happy and well and I’m pretty pleased with him.”

Rusambo (fifth), Mama’s Choice (seventh) and Andre Roo Hoo (15th) also come through the Blue Diamond Stakes.

However Black Caviar’s half-brother All Too Hard ($3.80) is the Sires’ Produce Stakes favourite having won the Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) at his only race start three weeks ago.

Jimando is second favourite at $6 just ahead of Shamexpress ($6.50) who was a half-length second to Pronto Pronto ($7) at Sandown on February 29.
