Jockey Padraig Beggy outed for 15 months

Jockey Padraig Beggy has been suspended for 15 months for a positive swab and giving false evidence relating to the sample.

Racing NSW stewards handed down the hefty ban on Tuesday after renewing an inquiry into the urine sample taken from Beggy at the Kembla Grange barrier trials on September 3.

Beggy was suspended for nine months on the drug charge with the final three months stayed on completion of professional counselling.

The Irishman pleaded guilty to the charge and to two other charges relating to his whereabouts when asked to provide another sample and his evidence regarding the source of the banned substance.

Stewards added six months to his original penalty and he will be out of action until December next year.
