Globetrotting Irish galloper Adelaide has firmed again for the Cox Plate after another sterling overseas performance in France.

Last month Adelaide won a Group 1 race in the United States. His slashing third in a Group 2 race, at Longchamp overnight, has forced online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au to cut his price from $21 to $13.

“Adelaide had no luck at Longchamp, but still finished the race off strongly. He’s been purchased by Australian interests, who have made no secret that the Cox Plate is his next mission,’’sportsbet.com.au’s Will Byrne said.

Dissident and Fawkner, who finished one-two respectively in Saturday’s Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington, head Cox Plate betting on $11 with Silent Achiever.
