News:

The upcoming long weekend’s racing has presented several options for Danny Williams who has covered the bases with his nominations.

The Goulburn trainer has four entries in the Highway Handicap (1300m) at Rosehill on Saturday with Tiger By The Tale his only certain runner.

Williams already has a shared win in one of the weekly races for country-trained horses with the judge unable to split Shutter Bug and Pera Pera in a 1400m event at Randwick on December 12.

The Williams-trained Shutter Bug is entered for the Highway Handicap over 1300 metres and two races at Randwick on Friday.

“At the moment I’m also looking at the 1600 metre race for fillies and mares at Randwick,” Williams said.

“I think she might be ready for the longer race now.

“Istanbul is also in a race on Friday and James McDonald will ride him in whichever race we decide.

“I’ll wait till acceptances and weigh things up.

“Tiger By The Tale has taken a few runs to come to hand and is only now starting to get fit but it was a good effort at Goulburn last time.”

Tiger By The Tale has not raced since his second over 1400 metres at Goulburn on November 22.

Last-start Goulburn winner La Belle Rouge is entered for two races at Randwick and two at Rosehill.

“At this stage I’ve got a lot of dual nominations and I don’t really want to start three horses in one race,” Williams said.

There are 16 nominations for the Highway Handicap with Shutter Bug the highest rated on 67.

The 1400m-benchmark 93 on the program attracted 19 entries headed by Slate On Edge, the winner of the greys race at Flemington during Melbourne Cup week.

Trained by Brett Thompson at Gulgong, Slate On Edge has finished fourth at his past two starts in Sydney.
