News:
Terravista has tuned up for the Lightning Stakes with a barrier trial win over likely opponent Exosphere.
The six-year-old held off his younger rival to win Monday’s 800m-heat at Warwick Farm with Terravista’s stablemate Ball Of Muscle third.
Trainer Joe Pride is taking a different approach with Terravista this autumn by running him in the 1000m-dash at Flemington later this month rather than going first-up into the Newmarket Handicap (1200m).
Exosphere has been an eye-catcher in two barrier trials and the Godolphin colt will be given one more chance at straight racing after his fourth as odds-one favourite in the Coolmore Stud Stakes in the spring.
Popular grey mare Catkins won her barrier trial ahead of a likely defence of the Group Two Millie Fox Stakes on Saturday week.
