News:

Young jockey Blake Spriggs has celebrated his biggest moment in racing, winning the Group One Metropolitan on veteran stayer Sir John Hawkwood at Randwick.

“Best day of my life,” Spriggs said. “It just panned out beautifully. I got into a nice spot, just where I wanted to be.”

Trained at Randwick by John Thompson, Sir John Hawkwood took up prominent position and held off the heavily backed favourite Antonio Giuseppe and Allergic.
