News:

Peter Moody is expected to walk away from his training career in the wake of his six-month suspension for a cobalt offence.

Moody, known internationally as the trainer of champion sprinter Black Caviar, is understood to be unhappy about the conditions put on the transfer of his horses and staff following the suspension.

Racing Victoria stewards have also flagged an appeal against the suspension after calling for a two-year disqualification during the penalty hearing last week.

Moody was found not guilty of deliberately administering cobalt to Lidari who returned an illegal level when second in the 2014 Turnbull Stakes.

The trainer was, however, banned for presenting the horse to race with a prohibited substance in its system and his stable practices were criticised.

Moody has not made any comment on the reports he will quit but is expected to confirm his decision on Tuesday.

David Brideoake, Moody’s preference as caretaker trainer for the Moody horses, celebrated victory in the Group One Galaxy with Griante at Rosehill on Saturday.

He said he could not comment on what Moody was planning to do.

“We’ll just see what happens over the next few days,” he said.
