10:05pm (4:05am AEST) – Just got asked if I’d seen the news about Black Caviar. I asked, what news? And was told she was retired after doing a suspensory. It then dawned on me that it was April Fools Day – you’ll see plenty of those suggestions today!

10:00pm (4:00am AEST) – I’m finding it hard to believe the criticism of Barzalona. He’s a phenomenal jockey and he deserves all the accolades for that ride. And that salute? A great addition! The only problem is that he’s French and he hardly speaks a word of English!!! (I’m joking, of course)

9:52pm (3:52am AEST) – TVN’s Caroline Searcy has found an Australian link to the Dubai World Cup winner, Monterosso.

9:50pm (3:50am AEST) – A massive cheer goes up from the crowd as Sheikh Mohammed embraces Mickael Barzalona.

GROUP 1 DUBAI WORLD CUP

1. Monterosso
2. Capponi
3. Planteur

It’s a Godolphin quinella and young Mickael Barzalona, only twenty years old, wins on Monterosso. Capponi finishes three lengths away in second. The crowd goes wild for Sheikh Mohammed’s 1-2. Barzalona does his customary salute, standing high in the irons, brandishing his whip. He did it a long way before the post, but he didn’t look like being beaten at that point. It’s quite something to see live. Planteur was honest in third, while So You Think tried hard and fought all the way to the line to get fourth.

9:35pm (3:35am AEST) – I’m heading out to watch the race! Good luck all!

9:31pm (3:31am AEST) – For those of you who don’t know why So You Think is such a special horse to me, here’s why.

9:30pm (3:30am AEST) – And so we’ve come to the feature, the Group 1 Dubai World Cup (2000m). It is a race in which Australians have rarely run – I’m not even sure if we’ve had a runner since Danewin ran in the inaugural edition in 1996. Juggler may have run in 1997, I’m not entirely sure. This year, Australia will be hoping for an Irish victory – from the great SO YOU THINK, a dual Cox Plate winner. The Tapeta is a query but from everything I’ve seen he’s fine on the surface. He just needs to settle. You’ll know how he’s going after 300m or so. There’s been a lot of focus on the Japanese runner Smart Falcon, but I’m more keen on EISHIN FLASH. He’s a Japanese Derby winner and has plenty of class. Once again, if he handles the track, he’ll be a good chance. I think the two Americans – ROYAL DELTA and GAME ON DUDE are also in with chances, but I’ll definitely be cheering home So You Think!

9:23pm (3:23am AEST) – The best photo I have from that insane opening ceremony.

9:20pm (3:20am AEST) – It may not look it, but Meydan is packed! The open area in front of the stand is a special area for the royals.

9:15pm (3:15am AEST) – Good to see a lot of racing fans back home getting up to watch the Dubai World Cup!

9:09pm (3:09am AEST) – I’ve noticed this is becoming a little text heavy so I’ll add some photos up that I’ve taken today.

GROUP 1 SHEEMA CLASSIC

1. Cirrus des Aigles
2. St Nicholas Abbey
3. Jakkalberry

This horse has been a pox horse for me – and for Aidan O’Brien! First he denies So You Think in the Champion Stakes, then he holds off St Nicholas Abbey here? Cruel. Good ride by Olivier Peslier, and good win by the horse. You can’t take anything away from St Nicholas Abbey though, came through a narrow gap and chased hard all the way to the line. And what about the run of Jakkalberry? It could be a shrewd purchase by Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, who bought him for a tilt at the Melbourne Cup. On that run he’d definitely be up to the grade!

8:50pm (2:50am AEST) – They are already in the ring for the Group 1 Sheema Classic (2400m)! Okay, time for my thoughts. I really do like ST NICHOLAS ABBEY as a horse. Aside from So You Think, he’s the horse I’m most eager to see in the flesh. He was outstanding as a two year old, so much so that he started a short favourite in England’s 2000 Guineas won by Makfi. He disappointed that day, but he came back impressively as a four year old to win races like the Coronation Cup and the Breeders’ Cup Turf. If he runs up to that form he should go close here. TREASURE BEACH is a ridiculous price! He’s an Irish Derby winner and was beaten a nostril in the Epsom Derby. I can’t see why he’s at such a big price. BEATEN UP and SONGCRAFT are the emerging horses of the field and should run alright. The rest have chances here, but stick with Aidan O’Brien and Ballydoyle.

8:48pm (2:48am AEST) – Not an entirely successful trip for Aidan O’Brien – Await the Dawn finished a long, long last. Hopefully all’s okay there, and O’Brien definitely should bounce back in the next, the Sheema Classic.

8:35pm (2:35am AEST) – The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s racecallers, who had been screeching earlier, have gone decidedly silent following the shock failure of their runners. Xtension was the best, finishing fifth.

GROUP 1 DUBAI DUTY FREE

1. Cityscape
2. Mutahadee
3. City Style

CITYSCAPE! Wow. Of course, I wasn’t on him today after having a sizeable wager on him in the Hong Kong Mile. He was the run of the race there. He absolutely flogged them today, won by 4 1/4L. Great win. Mutahadee was good making up ground, as was City Style. Ambitious Dragon was disappointing, so too was California Memory. And Presvis ran last, he’s a shadow of his former self. But all honours to Cityscape!

8:28pm (2:28am AEST) – Dubawi Gold is a late withdrawal.

8:20pm (2:20am AEST) – I’ve only got a short amount of time before this race, the Group 1 Dubai Duty Free (1800m) – post time is five minutes away. I think AMBITIOUS DRAGON just wins. The Hong Kong horse is outstanding and I’d be surprised if he didn’t run top 2. His main danger looks to be CITYSCAPE who deserves his chance in the sun, given he was the run of the race in the Hong Kong Mile and ran well behind two great horses in Canford Cliffs and Goldikova. A local inveriably does well in this race, so I’ll throw in GREEN DESTINY – who is now a local – while DUBAWI GOLD would run well at his best. But I’ll be cheering for a Hong Kong victory from Ambitious Dragon.

8:15pm (2:15am AEST) – That. Was. Nuts. They are insane. That was an incredible show. If you didn’t get to see it, try and find a copy on Youtube. It was something.

8:05pm (2:05am AEST) – Sheikh Mohammed has officially opened the Dubai World Cup (if you can do that?). I’m going out to see this opening ceremony!

8:03pm (2:03am AEST) – Daylight savings has ended, so time has reverted back to AEST in Sydney and Melbourne.

7:58pm (2:58am ADST) – Apologies to Alex Donnelly, I thought I had posted this before the race.

Even with only carrying a kilo less than the older horses I think Sepoy is the best bet of the Aussies all night. Carrying all that weight in the Oakleigh and having a big big blow after could only help him, if he handles the tapeta track he wins from Lucky Nine who is the biggest danger. I’m not buying into Rocket Man being as good as last year, he is past it now. He is in decline, he’s a good Singapore horse not an international horse.

I thought similarly, but alas, it wasn’t to be.

7:55pm (2:55am ADST) – I was definitely disappointed with the performance of the Australians there. I think Peter Snowden will leave very disappointed. The Americans are quite disappointed too – The Factor did nothing. The question must be asked – how would Black Caviar have gone?

GROUP 1 GOLDEN SHAHEEN

1. Krypton Factor
2. Rocket Man
3. Lucky Nine

I was on radio during this race so I didn’t get a good look. But Krypton Factor was very strong late and he made a bunch of good horses look second rate. Rocket Man was good, but probably isn’t at his best, while Lucky Nine ran up to his HK Sprint form. Sepoy was quite disappointing to my eye, running third last, while Soul ran last. Not a good result for Australia. It will be interesting to see where they go with Krypton Factor from here.

7:22pm (2:22am ADST) – I’m about to go on radio here in Dubai – Dubai Eye 103.8 – to chat about Ortensia’s win and to discuss the upcoming race, the Group 1 Golden Shaheen (1200m) on the Tapeta. So I better give my thoughts quickly before I have to go on air. I’m sticking with SEPOY. He was good first up in the Oakleigh Plate, and if he runs up to his form of 2011 he’ll go close. ROCKET MAN is one amazing sprinter. I’m not sure if he’s at his best but he’s close enough to it to give this a shake. He won this race last year, while he has been good in Singapore recently. He meets Sepoy favourably at the weights too. Outside of these two, I think LUCKY NINE, KRYPTON FACTOR and THE FACTOR have chances. But I’m hoping we can bring up a double at the meeting with Sepoy. I better be careful – I might start doing that chant again soon. Australian pride!

7:17pm (2:17am ADST) – Just a reminder that from every race on, you will now not be able to bet with TAB Sportsbet due to daylight saving ending in 45 mins. You might have to look to a corporate instead!

7:15pm (2:15am ADST) – It’s a bit hard to come down after that, but come down we must as we turn our attention to the Golden Shaheen. Sepoy and Rocket Man – a Sepoy victory would make the night that little bit sweeter! Oh no, I just heard the Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi chant ring out. I cringed a little inside…

GROUP 1 AL QUOZ SPRINT

1. Ortensia – $2.80, $1.04
2. Sole Power –
$3.60
3. Joy and Fun –
$3.60

ORTENSIA WINS FOR AUSTRALIA!!! Oh, wowee!!! That got the heart pumping. She came from last, showed a great turn of foot to win rather easily. Huge for Paul Messara and Craig Williams. Britain’s Sole Power was second while the old boy Joy and Fun, from Hong Kong, was third. But in all seriousness, I feel honoured to have been here to see an Australian victory. It was only the second Australian victory in Dubai after Elvstroem’s success in the Dubai Duty Free in 2005.

6:57pm (1:57am ADST) – The Dubai Gold Cup WILL be re-run at 10:25pm – AFTER the World Cup. All horses likely to run!

6:55pm (1:55am ADST) – So we come to the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint (1000m) on the turf track down the straight. This is the first time it is being run at the elite level. I’m keen on ORTENSIA, because she looks the best horse in the race – not just because she’s an Aussie. Outside of her, it’s a dartboard race. I had Eagle Regiment in for second but he’s been scratched. I’m a bit confused which way to go, so I’ve ended up going BETTER BE THE ONE for second, A SHIN VIRGO for third and PROHIBIT for fourth. But anything could win this, and I wouldn’t be surprised. This is probably Australia’s best chance tonight.

6:45pm (1:45am ADST) – The sun has just gone down here at Meydan, and the track is even more beautiful with all its lights on! Who would have thought it? I got a photo with the track as a backdrop earlier today:

6:38pm (1:38am ADST) – So a disappointing start to Australia’s ambitions on Dubai World Cup night 2012. Still, our best hopes lie ahead, in Ortensia and Sepoy. And of course, for the parochial Australian, there is still So You Think. And in fact, we have a good chance in the next – Ortensia runs in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint (1000m)! And I know many who think she is a banker on the card. Is she that good, is the race that poor or is it the right race for her? We shall see.

GROUP 2 UAE DERBY

1. Daddy Long Legs – $12.60, $4.30
2. Yang Tse Kiang –
$5.20
3. Wrote –
$1.90

Aidan O’Brien wins the UAE Derby, but not with the horse that most expected. It was Daddy Long Legs who wins for Colm O’Donoghue, beating the French gelding Yang Tse Kiang and the stablemate Wrote. Helmet got a beautiful jump, he travelled so well in the run, but there was absolutely nothing there when asked. Perhaps there is some credence to the school of thought that the Caulfield Guineas may have “gassed” both Helmet and Manawanui. Sadly, he leaves Peter Snowden’s care running third last, an inglorious 12th, beaten about ten lengths.

6:22pm (1:22am ADST) – They are likely to re-run the Gold Cup, potentially after the World Cup. I disagree with that being done, but it is up to the Dubai Racing Club.

6:19pm (1:19am ADST) – It is so weird seeing Helmet in the Godolphin colours! Also worth noting that Entifaadha is the last ride for Richard Hills before he hangs up the silks. Good luck with your investments.

6:15pm (1:15am ADST) – We are 10 minutes away from the Group 2 UAE Derby (1900m). All Australian eyes are on Caulfield Guineas winner Helmet, who has apparently taken well to the Tapeta surface. However, I’m going to go for Team Ballydoyle, and I’ll be selecting WROTE. He won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Churchill Downs last November and he looks very well in the yard. I do think Helmet is the main danger but he has a lot against him here – the outside barrier, a lot more weight than his rivals (4.5kg more than the Northern Hemisphere colts and geldings) and he gets on to the surface for the first time. He’s also raced like a nutcase again at his last two starts. He put it all together at his third start last preparation, in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude, so expect an improved effort on those two runs. FALLS OF LORA is probably Godolphin’s best chance outside of Helmet, she won the UAE Oaks and she’s building a promising record, while the Japanese filly BALADA SALE is a chance too. Very open race here. Australia also has a connection here through Craig Williams, who rides Genten, and Glyn Schofield, who rides Maritime.

6:08pm (1:08am ADST) – There’s been a late scratching from the Al Quoz Sprint – Eagle Regiment from Hong Kong is lame and will not run!

6:03pm (1:03am ADST) – A couple of good tweets here:

Agree completely Nathan, definitely a very fair track!

Cheers Nathan (a different Nathan, hahaha) – I’ll be cheering the Aussies on heavily!

5:59pm (12:59am ADST) – So not what the Dubai Racing Club would have been wanting for the initial running of the Dubai Gold Cup. A terrible tragedy. But, the show must go on. And the next race on the card is the UAE Derby, a race of great interest to Australian punters. Caulfield Guineas winner Helmet will be looking to begin his overseas career on a great note. Selections shortly.

GROUP 3 DUBAI GOLD CUP

NO RACE

Animals are not machines, and unfortunately for all concerned, Fox Hunt broke down badly. The green screen was erected in front of the grandstand, near the 200m mark, and it would have been impossible to continue the race. But that’s not the point here – the point is that a horse has unfortunately lost his life tonight. Anyone who thinks racing fans hate the animal – come and witness the scenes here. People are very upset at what they have witnessed. RIP Fox Hunt, a magnificent horse who had won seven of his 18 starts. He looked like he’d gone to a new level after his promising Melbourne Cup run. Silvestre de Sousa appears to be alright.

5:41pm (12:41am ADST) – Looking at the NSW TAB, Opinion Poll has assumed favouritism on fixed odds but Fox Hunt is maintaining his place as favourite on the tote. I’m guessing that name recognition has a lot to do with that. Unusual Suspect is probably under the odds on what he’s shown so far here in Dubai, while I do think Barbican is a great each way bet. Four minutes away!

5:38pm (12:38am ADST) – Jamal Principe disagrees with my assessment of the Dubai Gold Cup.

I like Opinion Poll in the Group 3 Dubai Gold Cup at 3200m. He will need pace as he does get back, Frankie Dettori to give him a lovely ride.

I’m just not sure he’ll get that pace here Jamal, but good luck to you! Keep watching!

5:35pm (12:35am ADST) – We are 10 minutes away from the new addition to the card, the Group 3 Dubai Gold Cup (3200m). In time I think this will be the most interesting race for Australian punters as I think you’ll see Melbourne Cup contenders emerge from this race. It is not like a dour British 3200m, it requires similar traits to what is required in a Melbourne Cup. The only difference is the field is much smaller, so it could be more a sit and sprint affair. I’m very keen on FOX HUNT here. The son of Dubawi was good in the Melbourne Cup last year when seventh, but he has gone to another level this time in. If he runs up to his last two, I think he wins. The danger in my mind is BARBICAN. He’s already been touted as a likely Melbourne Cup visitor and he comes into this race with six wins from 10 starts. I think he has the most scope in the race and he could be the fly in the ointment. OPINION POLL is obviously very classy, winning the Goodwood Cup and finishing second in the Ascot Gold Cup, while UNUSUAL SUSPECT has apparently turned the corner since the arrival of Ortensia – he was getting lonely there! If he runs up to his Melbourne Cup form he’ll be very close to Fox Hunt. But it’s Fox Hunt on top for me!

5:27pm (12:27am ADST) – Interesting contrast here. The media watching the first race, the Kahayla Classic:

…and then coming in to work afterwards!

Good to see I’ve got Twitter open on my computer!

5:19pm (12:19am ADST) – Frankie typically happy at getting a winner on Dubai World Cup night. No surprises there! This is his seventh win in the race, outstanding! Next up is the Dubai Gold Cup, a new addition to the program. I’d say it is a worthwhile addition too!

GROUP 2 GODOLPHIN MILE

1. African Story (GB) – $1.50, $1.20
2. Viscount Nelson (US) –
$3.80
3. Red Jazz –
$3.40

The money was spot on as African Story powers home for Frankie Dettori and Godolphin – really, they are the most fitting winners of this race. It was a good result for our selections, with the trifecta from our four picks. It will be interesting to see how much the trifecta paid! Do It All was disappointing, he was the first beaten (outside of Western Aristocrat, who was pulled up down the back straight).

5:06pm (12:06am ADST) – African Story is extremely short with NSW TAB – $2 fixed, $2.30 the tote. Happy to be on Do It All at the price!!! Each way, all day.

5:02pm (12:02am ADST) – Here’s a picture of the Kahayla Classic field as they pass the post on the first occasion. T M Fred Texas is the grey on the extreme outside.

4:55pm (11:55pm ADST) – So now we move on to the thorougbreds. We move on to the Group 2 Godolphin Mile (1600m), a race which tends to suit American horses. It is run on the all weather Tapeta track. This is a difficult race to judge. I do think it is Godolphin’s race to win this year. But which horse? I’m going the way of DO IT ALL. I know Silvestre de Sousa believes this is his best chance of the night, and he’ll race on the pace – a big advantage on this Tapeta track. His main danger is the stablemate AFRICAN STORY. I think Frankie Dettori also believes he has a good chance here, and he’s only missed a lace once. He was a very impressive winner three weeks ago and he should get a nice run from barrier three. The others I think will go alright are RED JAZZ and VISCOUNT NELSON, but I’d be surprised if Godolphin didn’t win here. We are 15 minutes from start time.

4:41pm (11:41pm ADST) – Very good win to T M Fred Texas. And now, with the Purebred Arabians out of the way, we move on to the thoroughbreds. The next race is the Godolphin Mile!

GROUP 1 KAHAYLA CLASSIC

1. T M Fred Texas (US)
2. Seraphin du Paon (FR)
3. Timadit Al Mels (FR)

Qatar wins the first with the American-bred T M Fred Texas, a beautiful grey. Seraphin du Paon was second, and he ran very strongly coming from the tail of the field, while third was Timadit Al Mels.

4:24pm (11:24pm ADST) – They are out on the track – Dubai World Cup night is about to get underway. On the NSW TAB, Nieshan holds favouritism over Al Mujahaz and Versac Py. Gee, Seraphin du Paon is a big price. I think he’d be the one to look at here each way.

4:17pm (11:17pm ADST) – Wow, the Purebred Arabians are so lean but they all look fantastic. They are a beautiful specimen. They are currently in the parade ring, about to head out onto the track. Also of note is that the royals – Sheikh Mohammed and his family – have arrived on course.

4:10pm (11:10pm ADST) – Interesting treble with TAB Sportsbet. I think this punter got good odds.

4:06pm (11:06pm ADST) – The first race on the card is the Group 1 Kahayla Classic (2000m), run on the all weather track for the Purebred Arabians. It is the equivalent of their World Cup, so I am told. I do not know much about the Purebred Arabians, but I do know it is a race dominated by horses from France and Qatar. As my knowledge is limited I have asked my friend, Dubai journalist Harry Tregoning (@htregoning) for some advice. He’s very keen on NIESHAN here. I think he’s definitely in with a chance, looking at his form. But I’m wary of VERSAC PY. He’ll be ridden by Richard Hills, the most successful jockey in this race. Hills retires tonight, his last ride is in the Group 2 UAE Derby on Entifaadha. But it would be nice to see him go out a winner. So I’ll put Versac Py on top of Nieshan. For third, go with the American champion T M FRED TEXAS, while I’ll put SERAPHIN DU PAON for fourth. But this is a bit of a dartboard race for me. We are 24 minutes from start time.

3:45pm (10:45pm ADST) – The crowd is beginning to build here at Meydan – but the grandstand is so expansive, it is hard to tell from this photo!

3:20pm (10:20pm ADST) – The festivities have begun for the meeting! A marching band is in the parade ring. This is the first of many celebrations over the next few hours! We have an hour until the first race.

3:00pm (10:00pm ADST) – T-minus 90 minutes until the first! I guess it is time to give my selections, although I will post a preview before each individual race!

Race 1 – Kahayla Classic – Versac Py to beat Nieshan
Race 2 – Godolphin Mile – Do It All to beat African Story
Race 3 – Dubai Gold Cup – Fox Hunt to beat Barbican
Race 4 – UAE Derby – Wrote to beat Helmet
Race 5 – Al Quoz Sprint – Ortensia to beat Eagle Regiment
Race 6 – Golden Shaheen – Sepoy to beat Rocket Man
Race 7 – Dubai Duty Free – Ambitious Dragon to beat Cityscape
Race 8 – Sheema Classic – St Nicholas Abbey to beat Treasure Beach
Race 9 – Dubai World Cup – So You Think to beat Eishin Flash

Remember, send in your thoughts to us here via email ([email protected]), Twitter (@AndrewNJHawkins) or Facebook (the JustHorseRacing page)!

2:41pm (9:41pm ADST) – I had a very interesting discussion with three American journalists here about the wonder mare Black Caviar. Two of them believe that Black Caviar has been avoiding international opposition, can’t be proven until she beats the best and – get this – would struggle on the international stage. One of them, who I won’t name, said connections of Golden Shaheen runner The Factor are eyeing a tilt at the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot. This would put him up against Black Caviar, and the unnamed journalist believes The Factor would defeat Black Caviar.

I posted this on Twitter, and the response has been phenomenal from Australian racing fans:

2:25pm (9:25pm ADST) – Joshua Kayll has chimed in from Melbourne.

In my opinion this is probably as international a meeting you can get, with representatives from most of the major racing centres around the world. I think Ortensia is our best chance of winning, she flies fresh and in my opinion she is best at 6f and under. Her opposition is not overly great although I am wary of Joy And Fun. Of the others I don’t think Unusual Suspect is going well enough (although he would be in this up to his ears if 100%) & Helmet has too much against him. Sepoy is a great chance of winning, I think it just comes down to how he handles Tapeta – otherwise I think he’ll beat Rocket Man. So You Think is the best horse in the feature, but I am worried about the surface. Hopefully he can shut up the doubters with a win in the World Cup, although I am worried about Smart Falcon & Transcend. I’d be shocked if he missed a place.

I hope you are right, Josh, really hope so. Unusual Suspect has apparently turned the corner since the arrival of Ortensia, he was really missing the company. If he runs up to his Melbourne Cup form he’ll be right in this, as you say. And I hope So You Think gets up for both of us!

1:58pm (8:58pm ADST) – Kerrin McEvoy rides Sepoy and Helmet today, he’s just posted this on Twitter:

1:43pm (8:43pm ADST) – After struggling a bit with security – it is incredibly tight here – we are finally inside the media room at Meydan! It’s overcast and a bit hazy, but both tracks look in great order. Here’s a quick panorama of the track taken a couple of minutes ago:

12:05pm (7:05pm ADST) – The weather here in Dubai is fairly typical – a maximum of 32 degrees celsius is expected. Humidity is at 32%, which isn’t too bad. It is a bit windy here too, but that’s fairly normal. It should be at a very nice temperature come the feature tonight.

11:10am (6:10pm ADST) – There’s a pretty significant scratching this morning – Silver Pond is out of the Dubai World Cup. It’s a shame for trainer Doug Watson, who also had Barbecue Eddie scratched from the Godolphin Mile with an elevated temperature. These are the only two scratchings on the card, outside of the reserves.

10:53am (5:53pm ADST) – Welcome to Just Horse Racing’s live blog from Dubai World Cup night at Meydan. It’s Andrew Hawkins here, live in Dubai. After an incredible day of racing at Rosehill today, get set for the richest racecard on the planet tonight. It’s a nine race card, eight of these for thoroughbreds. The first race is for Purebred Arabians. The first race is set down for 4:30pm local time – 11:30pm in Sydney or Melbourne. If you want to watch the Australians: Unusual Suspect runs at 12:45am AEDT, Helmet runs at 1:25am AEDT, Ortensia runs at 2:00am AEDT, Sepoy runs at 2:35am AEDT and, as I still consider him Australian, So You Think runs at 3:40am AEST. Note the change in time there, as clocks go back in NSW and Victoria at 3am. This may affect some betting sites – TAB Sportsbet is only betting on the first five races up until the jump, the rest close at 2am too. So get set for a big night here, I will be posting my selections. I’ll answer any queries you may have about Dubai, about the race meeting or about how they’ve gone since they’ve been here. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the night’s racing too. You can contact us in a number of ways – send me an email at [email protected], tweet me at @AndrewNJHawkins or comment on the Just Horse Racing Facebook page. I hope you’ll enjoy our coverage of the 2012 Dubai World Cup.

Even with only carrying a kilo less than the older horses I think Sepoy is the best bet of the Aussies all night.
Carrying all that weight in the Oakleigh and having a big big blow after could only help him, if he handles the tapeta track he wins from Lucky Nine who is the biggest danger. Im not buying into Rocket Man being as good as last year, he is past it now. He is in decline, he’s a good Singapore horse not a international horse.
