Chad Schofield expects to be back in the saddle early next month after getting the all-clear from the latest scan on his injured neck.

Schofield fractured his C3 vertebra in a three-horse fall at Cranbourne on June 8, just a day after he claimed his fourth Group One win for the season aboard Sonntag in the Queensland Derby.

Since the fall, Schofield has been wearing a neck brace to keep the injury stabilised.

“Just received my latest X-ray results,it’s healed fully,which means I can begin my rehab with the aim to resume riding on the 9th of August,” Schofield posted on Twitter on Monday.

Schofield’s first Group One win came aboard Shamus Award in the Cox Plate and he added the Newmarket Handicap on star sprinter Lankan Rupee and the Champagne Stakes on Adelaide filly Go Indy Go before winning the Derby in Brisbane.

An inquiry into the fall in which Schofield’s fellow riders Steven Arnold and Ben Thompson suffered concussion, found it was an accident and no other jockeys were at fault.
