Brazen Beau to run in Diamond Jubillee Stakes 2015

Australian colt Brazen Beau is a confirmed runner in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot with Craig Williams to ride.

Trainer Chris Waller and the owners had also considered the King’s Stand Stakes (1000m) on Tuesday but opted to wait until the longer Diamond Jubilee (1200m) four days later.

Part-owner and managing director of Ontrack Thoroughbreds which syndicated the colt, Grant Morgan, said Brazen Beau was more likely to get a suitable firm track later in the week.

“In the end some consideration was given to running in both the King’s Stand and the Diamond Jubilee,” Morgan said.

“The King’s Stand was a strong possibility during planning stages but as Brazen Beau has continued to tick every box during his preparation the Diamond Jubilee swung back into favour.

“The weather forecast looks OK for a good to firm track for the Saturday. Any rain that is predicted at this stage seems more likely for early in the week.

“Chris felt that running in the King’s Stand could leave him flat for the Diamond Jubilee.

“He has an outstanding 1200 metre record up the straight and he has been strong through the line in both his Group One wins.”

Williams gets the nod to ride with Joao Moreira, who has ridden Brazen Beau to his two Group One win, unable to secure a release from the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Moreira cannot get back to Hong Kong in time to ride in the first races at next Sunday’s meeting at Sha Tin.

He will, however, get his chance for a Group One win at Royal Ascot aboard Hong Kong star Able Friend in the Queen Anne Stakes on Tuesday.
