That’s A Good Idea’s winning debut for his new stable in a midweek sprint has set him up for a tilt at spring stakes races.
Formerly with Joe Pride, That’s A Good Idea ($5) had his first start for Peter and Paul Snowden in Monday’s 4Track4Kids welter (1000m) at Randwick.
As expected, I’m All The Talk ($4.20 eq fav) led but he had no answer when That’s A Good Idea moved up inside the final 100 metres to hit the front and go on to win by three-quarters of a length.
“He will go to the Listed Lightning Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday week,” Peter Snowden said.
“That is shaping up to be a really good race and if he can finished in the first three, then the the Salinger is an option for him.
“I’m pleased to have such a quality animal in the stable and I’m looking forward to the future and better class races with him.
“And he’s shown he doesn’t have to lead which adds another dimension to him.”
The Group Two Yellowglen, formerly Salinger, is down the 1200m straight course at Flemington on November 1.
Josh Parr rode That’s A Good Idea and said he had settled fairly well just behind the speed.
“He is a big, strong horse and has a great turn of foot,” he said.
“Even in his track work he sees another horse way in front and starts to attack.
“He likes to beat other horses.”
Earlier Mr One Eleven gave former New Zealand trainer John Sargent just his second metropolitan win in Sydney since he moved to Australia two years ago.
Although he has won the VRC Oaks with Kirramosa and the Queensland Cup with Iggi Pop in the past year, Sargent admits it has been hard to produce winners in the competitive arena of Sydney racing.
“Hopefully this is the start of many more,” he said.
Mr One Eleven overhauled Shikra to win the RacingNSW 4Tracks4Kids (1800m) by 1-1/2 lengths.
All races on Monday were named for the 4Tracks4Kids charity which raised more than $450,000 on Monday when several hundred people walked from Warwick Farm to Randwick via Rosehill and Canterbury racecourses.
This year’s walk was named A Walk for Nathan in honour of the jockey who died earlier this year from a rare form of epilepsy, one of the charities supported on the day.
