Adebisi primed for Group Three George Moore Stakes 2014

Three years after he won the George Moore Stakes at Doomben, the durable Adebisi heads the line-up for the 2014 edition of the Group Three sprint.

Since his win in 2011, Adebisi has won stakes races in Sydney and Melbourne as well as Brisbane and continues to thrive with trainer Desleigh Forster thrilled with his condition.

After a 10-week spring break, Adebisi carried 61.5kg to finish three-quarters of a length second to Rocky King in a 1000m race at Caloundra on November 14, giving his rival two kilograms.

“Rocky King ran a course record and beat us just under a length,” Forster said.

“Adebisi carried 61.5 kilograms in that race and he never gave up the length of the straight.”

“The horse is flying and I can hardly wait for Saturday’s race.”

Rocky King will again be among his opponents in the George Moore with Tegan Harrison returning to ride the Tom Bourke-trained five-year-old.

“He has never won at 1200 metres but he has won at 1300. One of his best runs was at 1200 when he was very unlucky in the Ramornie Handicap,” Bourke said.

Rocky King was beaten three-quarters of a length in the Ramornie at Grafton this year by Big Money, another entry for the George Moore.

Trained at Scone by Rodney Northam, Big Money finished a close fourth in the Group Two Caulfield Sprint (1100m) on October 18, his first start since his Ramornie win.

He had excuses next time out when 12 lengths ninth of 10 in the Group Two tab.com.au Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on November 1 when he got his tongue over the bit.

Nominations have been extended for the George Moore with 13 received on Monday.

Adebisi has a rating of 103, one more than Rocky King and the Robert Heathcote-trained Excellantes.

The injury-plagued Cape Kidnappers (101) is scheduled to have his first start since finishing second to Big Money in the Group Three Healy Stakes in June.
