News:

Washington Heights can cement his credentials for the $1 million Golden Rose with a good performance in the Ming Dynasty Quality.

Trainer Gerald Ryan moved quickly to tell punters the colt was still headed to the Group One Golden Rose (1400m) on September 13 after he withdrew him from the Run To The Rose because of the wet track.

“They took him right out of calculations in the markets but if he goes well on Saturday he will be in the Golden Rose,” Ryan said.

“I had to make sure people knew that.

“I could have three runners with Ygritte and Bachman going there as well.”

Washington Heights is now on the third line of betting at $8 for the Golden Rose with the TAB reporting support from $51.

Ygritte ran a solid third in Saturday’s Run To The Rose while Bachman will go to the Group One first-up.

There were 16 entries taken on Monday for the Group Three Ming Dynasty (1400m), three from the Victorian stable of David Hayes and Tom Dabernig.

They have nominated Beluga Caviar, who hails from the family of champion Black Caviar, Tashbeeh and Wilderness while premier Sydney trainer Chris Waller has entered Hero I Am and Winx.

Run To The Rose winner Hallowed Crown has displaced Golden Slipper placegetter Bring Me The Maid as the Golden Rose favourite at $4.60.

Bring Me The Maid is at $6 while Nostradamus is at $8 alongside Washington Heights.

The Ryan-trained Peggy Jean was one of nine entries for the Group Two Furious Stakes (1200m) for fillies.

The winner of the Group One ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes, Peggy Jean will be up against Blue Diamond Stakes winner Earthquake for the first time.
