Jordan Spieth parred the 18th hole Saturday morning to keep a two-stroke lead over Sweden’s Henrik Stenson after completion of the second round of the rain-hit World Challenge.
The 18-man tournament at Isleworth is the comeback event for golf’s former number one Tiger Woods, the 14-time major champion who had not played competitively since last August’s PGA Championship due to a back injury.
Spieth, a 21-year-old American coming off a victory at last weekend’s Australian Open, reached the edge of the last green in darkness on Friday and returned early Saturday to make two final putts and finish a round of five-under par 67, standing atop the leaderboard on 11-under 133.
Steve Stricker, the only other player who did not finish his second round Friday, was also on the final green. He took a bogey to finish a round of 73 and stand 13th on 140.
Woods opened with a 77 and improved with a 70 Friday but remained last on 147 for 36 holes.
