Senden keeps pace in Maui

John Senden remains the pick of the Australians midway through the second round of the US PGA Tour Tournament of Champions in Maui.

Senden has three birdies and no blemishes in his opening 11 holes on the Plantation Course to move to eight-under-par for the tournament and into a tie for eighth, three shots behind Americans Jimmy Walker and Charley Hoffman who share the lead at 11 under.

Walker who has five birdies on the day through 11 holes while Hoffman is on a tear, eight under on his day through 16 holes including seven birdies in his last eight holes.

South Korean Sang-Moon Bae (eight holes) and American Brendon Todd (15 holes) share third at 10 under.

Senden opened with four scrambling pars before making birdie at the par five fifth then made his move with back-to-back birdies at nine and 10.

Jason Day sits at seven under for the tournament with one hole remaining in his second round while Steven Bowditch joins him with four holes to play, four off the pace.

Geoff Ogilvy carded a four-under-par 69 to move to five under while Matt Jones is seemingly finally succumbing to illness, two over on his round through 14 holes to be two under and tied 28th in the 34-man field.
