Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy will get their first look at the revamped Australian Open course on Tuesday.

Scott may still have thoughts about crashing in the final round last year where, with a third straight gold jacket in his keeping, he blew a four-stroke lead to surrender the title to McIlroy.

While Scott comes off a share of second at the Australian Masters, McIlroy will be coming off a plane from Dubai, where he finished equal second behind winner Henrik Stenson at the DP World Tour Championship.

That victory helped see the Swede leapfrog Scott into world No.2, the Australian falling to No.3 in the rankings released on Monday.

It was at Royal Sydney last year where McIlroy’s resurgence started.

Winless to that point in 2013 he conquered a faltering Scott with a birdie on the final hole.

The two had gone head-to-head on the back nine, Scott squandering a number of birdie chances that would have pushed him two clear of the Northern Irishman.

Since then it’s been all McIlroy, all the time.

He won the British Open at Royal Liverpool by two shots and made it a major double in 2014 by taking out the PGA Championship at Valhalla Country Club.

Scott is still waiting on his second major after his Masters victory in 2013.

The 34 year-old last won the Australian Open in 2009.
