Rollins leads US PGA event in Jackson

American John Rollins knows there is plenty at stake in Sunday’s final round of the US PGA Tour event in Jackson but he’s doing his best to keep his emotions in check.

Rollins fired a four-under-par round to claim a two-shot lead into the fourth day of the $US4 million ($A4.33 million) Sanderson Farms Championship.

The 39-year-old American is playing this week’s event on a conditional status but a win Sunday would make him fully exempt through the 2016-17 Tour season.

“It is just another round of golf,” said Rollins.

“Last year was a very disappointing year for me. I am just enjoying where I am at right now. My golf game feels pretty good and I am having fun with it.

“I will try it one more day and see where it stacks up.”

Rollins finished 54 holes at 14-under-par 202 at the Country Club of Jackson.

William McGirt fired a six-under 66 and he matched the low round of the day to claim sole possession of second place at 12 under.

Jason Bohn (66) and former US Open champion Lucas Glover (67) are tied for third place at 11 under.

David Toms, who shared the second-round lead with Rollins, managed an even-par 72 and was joined in fifth place at 10 under by Canada’s Nick Taylor (70).

McGladrey Classic winner Robert Streb (70) is alone in seventh place at nine under.

Greg Chalmers is the best-placed Australian at two under.

This marked the first time this week a round wasn’t suspended because of darkness.

The opening round was completed early Friday after being suspended due to darkness on Thursday. Play was again suspended on Friday.
