South Australia’s Wade Ormsby has charged into the lead of the Australian PGA Championship midway through his second round.
Ormsby made four birdies, an eagle and a bogey on the back nine at Royal Pines to move to nine-under-par overall with a one-shot lead over American Boo Weekley.
The 34-year-old started his day with a bogey on the par-four ninth but was unstoppable from there to storm into the outright lead.
Weekley, who started the round leading by one shot on six-under, took a while to get going but made three birdies in a row to reach the turn at eight-under, two shots clear of defending champion Adam Scott.
The world No.3 had a steady first nine holes in his second round, making two birdies to be in outright third at six-under.
Australian Masters champion Nick Cullen, Korean Jin Jeong and Kristopher Mueck are all back in the clubhouse after completing their second rounds and are among a group of six players on five-under.
Jason Scrivener is also making a move, five-under for the day through nine holes in his second round to be at four-under overall.
