Ormsby 2 from lead in Asian golf event

Wade Ormsby is well placed to defend his Asian Tour title at the Delhi Golf Club, sitting two shots from the lead heading into the third round.

Overnight leader Rahil Gangjee rode on a hot putter and accurate drives to shoot a four-under-par 68 to lead at 10-under-par 134 on Friday.

Ormsby also shot 68 with five birdies to stay in the hunt.

Fellow Australian Terry Pilkadaris (68) was a shot further back, tied third in a group of four players including amateur Pratap Atwal, a nephew of Indian star Arjun Atwal.

Ormsby said he needed to putt better over the weekend if he was to retain the title he won last year.

“I’m hitting the ball a lot better than last year and that takes a lot of pressure off you when you play on this course,” Ormsby said.

“If I can putt better, then I should be okay for the weekend.”

Gangjee said a two stroke lead was nothing to fell comfortable about on the challenging Delhi layout.

“Anything can happen but you can really go low on this course if you are hitting well, which I am doing at the moment.”
