Mum’s the word on Scott’s Masters dish

Adam Scott will ensure his fellow Masters champions get a taste of Australia, including some of his mum’s home cooking, when he prepares the traditional champions dinner at Augusta.

As is ritual on the Tuesday night of Masters week, the returning champion sets the menu for an exclusive dinner of past victors.

Scott was keeping ‘mum’ about some specifics in order to ensure it is a bit of a surprise for the cavalcade of green jacket bearers including legends Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods but confirmed Pam Scott’s pavlova was a certainty.

Ever the gentleman, Scott also said while he would ensure an Australian twist, he wouldn’t go overboard and take away from the class of the occasion.

“I can reveal Mum’s pavlova desert will be on the menu and while I am not giving too many secrets away, hopefully it will be enjoyed by all,” Scott said as he prepared for the WGC Cadillac Championship.

“I am not going to go so cliched Aussie and serve meat pies and sausage rolls or Kangaroo and crocodile, but I am going to serve something that hopefully everyone can enjoy but certainly with an Australian theme to everything.

“It is the one chance I get to do this so I will try to be a little creative as well without just slapping a piece of beef down on a plate.”

High on the likely possibilities is the 33-year-old Queenslander’s favourite food, Moreton Bay Bugs, a species of slipper lobster.

He smiled when asked about the chances it would feature, saying only, it seemed like a good guess.

He is expected to add some meat to the dish, perhaps a high quality Australian lamb option.
