Masters golf champion set for Perth

The Perth International will feature three major champions this year after 2011 Masters winner Charl Schwartzel confirmed his attendance for the $2 million golf tournament.

World No.21 Schwartzel joins 2013 US PGA champion Jason Dufner and 2006 US Open winner Geoff Ogilvy for the October 23-26 tournament at Lake Karrinyup Country Club.

Other notable names set to appear include world No.22 Frenchman Victor Dubuisson; five-time European Tour winner Brett Rumford; defending champion Jin Jeong, and Australian Steven Bowditch, who won his maiden PGA tour title in April at the Texas Open.

Schwartzel failed to make the cut at the 2012 Perth International, but the nine-time European Tour winner is hopeful of faring better this year.

“I really enjoyed my experience in Perth two years ago, but having played the course and experienced the conditions I’m looking forward to a strong finish at the tournament in October,” the 30-year-old said.

“I’m playing well this year but am hungry for a win after a few close calls and I’m looking forward to returning to Perth.”
