Jones one shot from Furyk at Pebble Beach

Jim Furyk’s blistering finish has earned him a one-shot lead over Australian Matt Jones and fellow American Brandt Snedeker going into the final round of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California.

Furyk made seven birdies over his last 10 holes on Saturday to sign for a 9-under 63 and move to 18-under overall at the US PGA Tour event.

Furyk isn’t showing much sign of rust for someone competing for the first time since the Ryder Cup in late September and now he has another chance to end a winless drought of more than four years.

Jones and Snedeker each shot 67 at the Pebble Beach course to be at 17-under, while Nick Watney birdied his last hole for a 65 to be a stroke further behind.

A day after carding a sizzling 62, Australian Jason Day carded a 69 to be tied for 10th at 12-under and with a remote chance of back-to-back tournament victories after last week’s win at Torrey Pines.
