South Korea’s Jin Jeong has completed a first round of seven-under-par 65 to take a one-stroke lead at the weather-interrupted Australian PGA Championship.

Jeong was one of about 50 golfers forced to conclude their rounds beginning at 5.30am on Friday after two suspensions due to lightning on Thursday.

Undeterred by the delay, he birdied three of his remaining six holes to overtake American Boo Weekley, who completed his 66 on Thursday.

World No.3 Adam Scott, the defending champion, is in a group three shots behind Jeong and waiting to start his second round later Friday.
