Golfer Olesen the man to catch in Perth

Danish golfer Thorbjorn Olesen will be the man to catch when the final round of the Perth International tees off on Sunday.

Olesen (16 under) holds a three-stroke lead over American-based South Korean Sihwan Kim, with England’s James Morrison (12 under) and American Peter Uihlein (11 under) also in the hunt.

Richard Green is the best-placed Australian at 10 under, with local hope Stephen Dartnall just one stroke further back.

Former masters champion Charl Schwartzel failed to make many inroads on Saturday, with the South African sitting seven strokes off the pace.

Rising French star Victor Dubuisson sits one stroke further back at eight under.

Kim, who needs to either win or finish second to retain his European Tour card, knows he faces a major battle to topple Olesen.

“I actually played with him in Dubai this year. That’s when he beat me by 10 shots one day in the third round,” Kim said.

“Every time play with him he’s played nicely.”
