Geoff Ogilvy set to miss Perth golf cut

US Open 2006 winner Geoff Ogilvy appears destined to miss the cut at the Perth International after shooting another underwhelming round on Friday.

Ogilvy finished his second round at one-over-par; a worrying 12 shots adrift of leader Thorbjorn Olesen.

South Korean Sihwan Kim is second at 10-under, while Englishman James Morrison is just one stroke further back after shooting a tournament-record nine-under 63 on Friday.

Ogilvy entered the day at one-over, but he failed to make any inroads in a round that featured two birdies and two bogeys.

Rising French star Victor Dubuisson (six-under) has put himself in the title mix with a second round of 67, while overnight leader John Wade (eight-under) has the chance to hit back in the afternoon.

Dubuisson threatened to take the lead after birdies on five of his first seven holes, but the world No.22 failed to go on with the job.

“I thought I could get back in the competition but, unfortunately, on the back nine – nothing. All my putts lipped the hole,” Dubuisson said.

“All my putts don’t want to go in.

“I was like, ‘OK, this is not the day’.”

Olesen hasn’t won an event since tasting victory at the Sicilian Open in April, 2012, but the world No.130 hopes that lean trot will end this weekend.

“It would mean everything to win,” Olesen said.

“It’s been a dry period. I haven’t won for a couple years, so I’m really trying to find that victory.

“It would be a great place to do it here.

“I have my friend on the bag this week, so we have a good laugh out there, and I think that’s very important.”

Australian world No.82 Steven Bowditch faces a nervous wait to see if he makes the cut.

Bowditch sits at one-under after firing a two-under 70 on Friday, with the cut expected to be either one or two-under.
