Aust PGA heads into playoff

Defending champion Adam Scott will join Greg Chalmers and Wade Ormsby in a three-man playoff for the Australian PGA Championship.

The trio finished tied on 11-under-par after a thrilling final round at Royal Pines on the Gold Coast.

Chalmers surged into contention after securing a fantastic final round of eight-under 64, making eight birdies in a bogey-free round to give him the early clubhouse lead.

The West Australian won the 2011 PGA Championship in a three-way playoff at Coolum.

Ormsby secured his spot in the playoff with a seven-metre birdie putt on the 18th while Scott, who has struggled with the putter throughout the event, shot a final round 71 with three bogeys and four birdies.

Behind the leading trio, New Zealand’s Michael Hendry finished fourth on nine-under with a final round 71 while American pair Scott Stallings (-8) and Boo Weekley (-7) finished fifth and sixth.
