Adam Scott falling behind in Florida

Adam Scott’s tilt at the World Golf Championships Cadillac Championship is in danger of derailment as he rides a bogey train in the third round.

Scott started the third round on Saturday in Miami just three off the lead of American JB Holmes at nine-under.

The Australian world No.5 was just one back from the lead through two holes when he birdied the first.

However, he has struggled since, bogeying four out of five holes between the third and seventh at Trump National Doral’s Blue Monster course.

He birdied the eighth but now sits five shots off the lead at four-under after 11 holes, five strokes adrift of Holmes.

Holmes bogeyed the opening hole but then recorded a hole-in-one on the fourth to remain in complete control.

He sits at nine-under through 10 holes, three clear of world No.3 Swede Henrik Stenson and American Dustin Johnson at six-under.

Johnson also aced the fourth hole just two groups ahead of Holmes, the first aces on the hole since 1989.

Scott’s troubles all came from the sand, with the former Masters champion finding five bunkers in as many holes and playing those holes in four-over.

He also registered his first three-putt of the week on the seventh hole after being relatively flawless in his switch to a short putter.

John Senden is the next best Australian at one-over in a tie for 23rd while Jason Day (+4), Greg Chalmers (+6), Geoff Ogilvy (+8) and Steven Jeffress (+11) are well off the pace.
