Cadel Evans not favoured to win 2013 Tour De France

Cadel Evans faces a massive task to win the 2013 Tour de France according to a market from online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au which has priced the Australian as a $23 chance.

Evans was the $2.50 favourite for last year’s Tour with sportsbet.com.au.

Spaniard Alberto Contador has been installed as the $2.37 favourite, with Chris Froome seemingly his biggest rival for overall honours, next at $3.50.

2012 winner Brad Wiggins and Andy Schleck are next in the market at $9.00, followed by Joaquin Rodriguez at $21 and then Evans at $23.

“Aussie punters still think Cadel is in with a big show as he is the best backed competitor by a fair margin which has seen his price shorten from $26 into $23,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes.

“In the battle between Contador and Froome, punters are torn at the moment with money almost identical for each rider.”

Aussies Richie Porte ($126), Simon Gerrans and Michael Rogers (both $251) are big outsiders to win the 2013 edition.
