Voges the hero as WA fight back in Perth

West Australian skipper Adam Voges has scored an unbeaten century to give his side hope of snaring an unlikely victory in their Sheffield Shield clash with Queensland at the WACA Ground.

At lunch on the final day, WA are 5-287 in their second innings – an overall lead of 140 – with Adam Voges on 151 and Sam Whiteman on two.

Another 74 overs remain including overs to make up for the rain delays that occurred over the opening two days.

WA are keen to build a lead in excess of 200 runs before trying to skittle Queensland in an attempt to snare outright points.

The Bulls remain in the box seat for victory, but they’ll need to make early inroads after lunch in order to give themselves enough time to chase down WA’s score.

Voges has been the rock in WA’s second innings, cracking 22 boundaries in his 319-minute stay at the crease.

The WA skipper combined with Shaun Marsh for a 99-run partnership.

But their defiant stand was brought undone by Bulls skipper James Hopes, who went to lunch with figures of 3-37 after also adding Mitch Marsh (27) to his list of scalps.

Former Warriors batsman Luke Pomersbach was the hero for the Bulls in their first dig, with his 159 off 281 balls setting up a first innings lead of 147.
