Tendulkar passed fit for IPL

Sachin Tendulkar will be able to take part in this year’s Indian Premier League after receiving the all-clear on his troublesome toe injury.

The record-breaking batsman missed last year’s back-to-back one-day international series against England after the injury, which has caused him discomfort over the past decade, flared up.

But he returned for India’s Test series at home to the West Indies, their unsuccessful tour of Australia and then the Asia Cup – in which he finally scored his 100th international hundred.

After a subsequent medical consultation in London, Tendulkar’s IPL franchise Mumbai Indians confirmed the 38-year-old will be fit to lead them in the competition which starts next week.

“I can categorically say Sachin Tendulkar is available for the entire duration of the IPL,” said a Mumbai Indians spokesman.

“He has gone to London just for consultation (about his toe injury) and is scheduled to be back on March 31. There is no question of any surgery.”
