Sth Africa set Sri Lanka 370 to win Test

Sri Lanka were set a target of 370 to win the first Test after South Africa declared their second innings on Saturday at the tea score of 6-206 on the fourth day in Galle.

JP Duminy was not out eight while wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock fell on the last ball before the break.

South Africa, who bowled out Sri Lanka for 292 in the first innings, moved to overall lead of 369 runs.

The tourists started poorly in their second innings, losing opening batsmen Dean Elgar for 12 to make it 1-33 and Alviro Petersen for 32 (2-55). Elgar had made 103 in the first innings.

Spin bowlers Rangana Herath and Dilruwan Perera accounted for all six wickets.

Faf du Plessis was bowled for 37 by Herath, while Perera had captain Hashim Amla caught for 22 and then bowled AB de Villiers for 51.

A relentless Perera then caught-and-bowled de Kock who had made 36 to have figures of 4-79. Herath has 2-84.

Earlier, Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews top-scored with 89.

Dale Steyn was the most successful bowler with figures of 5-54, well supported by Morne Morkel with 3-49.

Sri Lanka added just nine runs after resuming at 9-283 in the morning session, Morkel wrapping up the innings when he dismissed Herath for 19.
