A harsh call denied South Australian opening batsman Phil Hughes the chance to press his Test claims in the Sheffield Shield match against Queensland on Tuesday.
The Redbacks were 2-75 at lunch with Hughes unlucky to be dismissed lbw for eight at Adelaide Oval.
Hughes shuffled back and across his crease to a delivery from Bulls captain James Hopes and was struck on his pads, the ball appearing to be on a path above stump-high.
But the left-hander, seeking to impress national selectors ahead of the three-Test series against South Africa starting November 9, was given out.
Hughes dismissal came with the total on 18 after SA won the toss and batted.
Hopes, bowling into a strong wind, soon struck again when Sam Miller was caught behind for eight.
Miller played back to a ball which nipped away, getting a faint edge to wicketkeeper Chris Hartley to leave the Redbacks 2-29.
Experienced duo Michael Klinger (40 not out) and Callum Ferguson (16 not out) progressed until lunch, though Klinger was given a reprieve.
Klinger was on 25 when he edged a Ben Cutting delivery to Nathan Hauritz at second slip, who dropped the catch.
