Rain halts play in third ODI in NZ

Rain has halted play 18 overs into the third one-day international between Sri Lanka and New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland.

The Black Caps were 1-88 after Sri Lankan captain Angelo Mathews won the toss and elected to bowl.

New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum, who scored 117 off 99 balls in the second ODI, was dismissed with the first ball of the seventh over for 28.

But Martin Guptill, unbeaten on 34, and Tom Latham (21) dug in to keep the Kiwis scoring at a steady 4.88 per over.

The seven-match series is tied at one apiece. After a three-wicket win in the first ODI at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, the Black Caps fell to a six-wicket defeat in Hamilton on Thursday.
