Pietersen, Trott out in England tour game

After three and a half days and 96 overs, the first wicket has fallen in the tour match between England and Australia A in Hobart.

Trent Copeland trapped Kevin Pietersen lbw for 8, while Jonathan Trott was then caught behind off the bowling of Ben Cutting for 4 as England reached 4-345 after lunch on day four.

Alastair Cook (154 not out) and Michael Carberry (153no) both retired out before play started on Saturday after both had taken England to 0-318 at stumps on day one after the tourists had won the toss.

Players have since been on and off the field due to rain, with days two and three entirely abandoned.

Pietersen smacked two boundaries before rain forced an early lunch on Saturday, but he was out on the last ball of the first over following the break.

The ball kept low on the Bellerive wicket that’s been under covers for two and a half days.
