Pakistan lead Sri Lanka by 12 runs in Test

Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Rangana Herath claimed nine wickets, but wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed’s 103 gave Pakistan a 12-run first-innings lead on Saturday’s third day of the second Test in Colombo.

Sarfraz’s maiden Test century enabled Pakistan to take their overnight score of 6-244 to 332 before they were all out on the stroke of lunch.

Sri Lanka, who won the first Test in Galle, had scored 320 in their first innings with Upul Tharanga’s 92 being the highlight.

Herath finished with 9-127 from 33.1 overs, surpassing his previous best of 7-89 against Bangladesh in Colombo last year.

Apart from keeper Ahmed’s ton, there were useful day-two contributions for Sri Lanka from Ahmed Shehzad (58), Azhar Ali (32) and Asad Shafiq (42).
