Misbah ties world record for fastest ton

Pakistan’s captain Misbah-ul-Haq has scored a 56-ball hundred, the equal-fastest in Test history, on Sunday’s fourth day of play in the second Test against Australia.

Misbah has matched the mark West Indies’ legend Sir Viv Richards achieved against England in 1986.

The 40-year-old Misbah raced to his half-century off 21 balls which is also a Test record, beating the 24-ball half-century South Africa’s Jacques Kallis scored against Zimbabwe in 2005.

Misbah’s century in Pakistan’s second innings included 11 fours and five sixes.

Pakistan have declared their second innings closed at 3-293 after lunch on day four, setting Australia 603 to win with Misbah 101 not out off 57 balls.
