Lyon returns to hunt BBL Strikers

Nathan Lyon will swap his Test whites for the bright pink of the Sydney Sixers for the first time this Big Bash League season on Wednesday night.

Free of long-form duties, Lyon will play in the Sixers’ crunch meeting with the Adelaide Strikers.

He’ll be paired with Stephen O’Keefe in a formidable spin attack for the Sydney side.

Lyon was man of the match on his last BBL outing in January last year, taking 3-14 to destroy Sydney Thunder.

The meeting of the Sixers and Strikers will have a huge impact on the BBL finals, after Adelaide’s match with Sydney Thunder on Monday night was ruined by rain.

The Strikers thrashed their way to 5-119 off just 10 overs before umpires called the game off and gave each team a point for a no result – enough to confirm Adelaide’s finals participation.

Both Alex Ross (30 off 11 balls) and Travis Head (18 off 6) combined for six sixes in an extraordinary streak of big hitting.

The Sixers, currently in third place with four wins from six games, will join Adelaide in the finals with a victory at the SCG.
