Lynn returns for under pressure Bulls

Queensland batsman Chris Lynn will make his first Sheffield Shield appearance of the summer after being named in the Bulls’ line-up to play Victoria.

The clash starting at the Gabba on Saturday will be the first since Queensland parted ways with coach Stuart Law amid reports the former Test batsman had lost the confidence of the dressing room.

The Bulls go into the match last on the Shield ladder with just one win from five matches, while the Bushrangers are top of the table with three wins.

Lynn missed the first half of the Shield campaign due to off-season shoulder surgery but successfully returned to action during the Big Bash League for the Brisbane Heat.

The right-hander is joined in the line-up to take on the Bushrangers by a pair of debutants.

Michael Philipson, the brother of former Bulls batsman Craig, and English-born Charlie Hemphrey will both make their first-class debuts.

The pair come in to the line-up in place of injured former Test player Usman Khawaja and opener Marnus Labuschagne, while Lynn has been chosen ahead of Nathan Reardon.

Fast bowler Mark Steketee has also been named in the Queensland 12 for the first time but will not play in the Shield game as he will turn out for the Queensland Academy of Sport 2nd XI against South Australia in Adelaide next week.

Qld: Cameron Boyce, Joe Burns, Ben Cutting, Luke Feldman, Peter Forrest, Peter George, Chris Hartley, Charlie Hemphrey, James Hopes (capt), Chris Lynn, Michael Philipson, Mark Steketee. (12th man to be named).
