Indian captain Dhoni to train

Indian captain MS Dhoni will test his fractured thumb on Sunday in a bid to play the first Test against Australia.

Dhoni will train with his teammates at Adelaide Oval after initially being ruled out of the first Test because of the fracture.

But the rescheduling of the Tests following the death of Australia batsman Phil Hughes has given Dhoni a chance of playing in the series opener.

Dhoni originally was ruled out of the first Test in Brisbane, slated to start last Thursday, but the match was postponed in the wake of Hughes’ death.

Dhoni now has a chance to prove his fitness for the new series opener in Adelaide starting Tuesday.
