Henriques returns for NSW’s Shield clash

NSW have received a boost ahead of their top-of-the-table Sheffield Shield clash against South Australia, with allrounder Moises Henriques to return from a groin strain.

Henriques’ comeback helps balance out the loss of in-form paceman Doug Bollinger, who will miss the Redbacks match starting at the SCG on Sunday after Cricket Australia put him on standby for Test duty in Perth.

The Blues are also still without promising fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who is nursing shin soreness.

Henriques, who missed the previous win over Tasmania, will re-join a 12-man squad that also includes Sydney off-spinner Manjot Singh.

The 26-year-old Henriques played Test cricket earlier in the year in India and toured with the Australian one-day side to the sub-continent in October.

Henriques will be hoping to keep himself in the international frame for later in the summer.

The Blues currently sit on top of the Shield table, two points clear of the Redbacks after five matches.

They’ve been led in the early matches by firing batsman Ryan Carters and spinner Stephen O’Keefe, who is the joint top wicket-taker in the country alongside South Australian Johan Botha (21).

NSW squad: Peter Nevill (capt), Sean Abbott, Ryan Carters, Trent Copeland, Moises Henriques, Scott Henry, Nic Maddinson, Steve O’Keefe, Kurtis Patterson, Ben Rohrer, Gurinder Sandhu, Manjot Singh
