Hazlewood in Australia’s World Cup team

Paceman Josh Hazlewood has been summoned into Australia’s team for Friday’s World Cup quarter-final against Pakistan.

Pakistan won the toss and will bat first in the knockout final at Adelaide Oval in a decision which didn’t faze Australian captain Michael Clarke,

“I’m not that bothered, it looks like a beautiful wicket. You have to bowl at some stage so why not now,” Clarke said.

Hazlewood replaces fellow quick Pat Cummins in Australia’s side for a fixture to start in mild, partly cloudy conditions but with no rain forecast.

The swap is the only change to the Australian outfit that defeated Scotland in their last group game.

Hazlewood has played two of Australia’s six World Cup fixtures, the tournament-opener against England and against Afghanistan in Perth on March 4.

Pakistan stuck with the 11 players who defeated Ireland last start – one of four consecutive wins they banked to reach the quarter-final.

The winner will meet unbeaten India in a semi-final in Sydney next Thursday.

The other semi-final, next Tuesday in Auckland, will pit South Africa against the victor of Saturday’s quarter-final between New Zealand and West Indies.
