Hauritz joins Sydney Thunder in BBL

Former Australian off-spinner Nathan Hauritz has joined the Sydney Thunder on a one year Big Bash League contract.

Hauritz represented Australia in 17 Tests, picking up 63 wickets at an average of 34.98 while also playing in 58 one day internationals.

He was also a key member of the NSW squad that won the inaugural Champions League in India in 2009.

Thunder general manager Nick Cummins said he was delighted to attract someone of Hauritz’s experience.

“Nathan is a proven performer who has succeeded at the highest level and will bring both experience and a winning attitude to the Thunder,” Cummins said.

“He will provide us with a quality spinning option that will complement our attack well, in addition to adding depth to our batting line-up. He has a good T20 record and I know that he is excited about being part of the Thunder for this season.”

Hauritz had been playing for the Brisbane Heat in T20 since 20 11.
