Harris back for Heat BBL clash v Strikers

Australian paceman Ryan Harris will return to action for the Brisbane Heat in Saturday’s Big Bash League match against the Adelaide Strikers.

Harris trained with the Heat on Wednesday and was given the all-clear to resume his summer following a short break after Australia’s 5-0 Ashes triumph.

It’ll be Harris’ first domestic T20 match for the Heat in more than a year after missing all of last summer’s championship-winning campaign with injury.

“I’m feeling pretty good and looking forward to stepping up my bowling again after a bit of a break,” he said.

“It’s an important game for the Heat. I’ve been keeping a close eye on them during the BBL so far and the boys have been a bit unlucky not to win some of those close games.

“I reckon we can finish strongly though, as we did last season.”

While Harris is a confirmed starter, the Heat are still sweating on the fitness of spin duo Dan Vettori (back) and Nathan Hauritz (calf), while allrounder Dan Christian has been called into Australia’s one-day squad and will miss Saturday’s game.

Results elsewhere mean the Heat travel to Adelaide still with a slim chance of reaching the finals but anything less than a win over the Strikers will end their campaign.
