Cutting re-signs BBL contract with Heat

Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting has re-signed with the Brisbane Heat for the next three Big Bash League tournaments.

It was announced on Tuesday the 27-year-old had agreed to play until the end of the 2016-17 season after negotiating a long-term deal with the franchise.

Cutting, who was part of the team’s 2012-13 title-winning side, said he felt he had “unfinished business” with the Heat.

“I’m really looking forward to making a contribution across the board this season, especially with the ball,” he said.

“I’ve been working very hard in the winter on a few things that seem to be working well.”

Cutting has played four one-day internationals and three Twenty20 matches for Australia.

He was a part of the Australia ODI squad on its recent tour of Zimbabwe.

Heat coach Stuart Law described Cutting as one of the longest hitters in the game.

“Cuttsy gives us a lot of strikepower (and) he was always going to be a key signing for us,” Law said.

“We were keen to talk it through when the chance came to make it a longer term deal.”

Cutting will line up for the Heat in their 2014-15 BBL opener against the Sydney Thunder at ANZ Stadium on December 21.
