Cook wins toss, Aussies bowling first

Australia have opted for an unchanged bowling attack and will bowl first in the Ashes opener.

Clarke called tails in Cardiff on Wednesday but the coin fell heads, with Alastair Cook deciding to bat.

“I would have batted as well,” Clarke admitted.

“Overcast conditions, so hopefully it swings around a bit.”

The return of Chris Rogers was the only change for the visitors, with the veteran opener returning from concussion at the expense of Shaun Marsh.

England named an unchanged side, sticking with the same team that battled to a 1-1 draw in their recent series against New Zealand.

Australia: David Warner, Chris Rogers, Steve Smith, Michael Clarke (capt), Adam Voges, Shane Watson, Brad Haddin, Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon

England: Alastair Cook (capt), Adam Lyth, Gary Ballance, Ian Bell, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Stuart Broad, Mark Wood, James Anderson
