Black Caps bowling first against Scotland

New Zealand have won the toss and will bowl first in the Cricket World Cup pool game against Scotland at University Oval in Dunedin.

Captain Brendon McCullum said he hoped to extract some early life from the University Oval ground.

The Black Caps defied pre-game expectations by naming the same team who beat Sri Lanka in the tournament’s opening match in Christchurch on Saturday.

It is the first game of the tournament for associate nation Scotland, who have made two changes to the side who lost to the West Indies in an unofficial warm-up match in Sydney last week.

Captain Preston Mommsen returns in place of Freddie Coleman in the middle order while pace bowler Iain Wardlaw replaces Alasdair Evans.

The day has dawned warm and still, and is forecast to remain that way.
